The Application Process | Microblog

The application process is part of the recruitment process to see if you can follow basic instruction
And also gauge your IT skill level.

I received an eMail from one of the many security companies whose jobs i have applied for. At 15:50 (3:50pm) and this is one of the instruction from the eMail: “The closing date for these roles are 1700hrs on the 21st Oct – Roles start on the 7th Nov.” Which mean ti have one hour and ten minutes to do the following;

Please find attached the Application pack, this process is part of the application process and must
be completed correctly and in full.

All forms with the except of the P46 and Character References MUST be completed electronically

· Open form
· Highlight grey cell
· Type in your information
· Save and return

P46 – print and complete by hand, then scan in or take a picture and email back

Character references – print and get your nominated referees to complete and sign by hand, return and then scan in or take a picture and email back (basically they are asking me to ask a couple of friends to be character referees. It’s typical, though i’ve never had to get them to sign it before. You can’t use family)

Supporting documents – These can be scanned in or take a picture and email back

Failure to complete as per above with automatically exclude you from the recruitment process

Any question please email me back

The closing date for these roles are 1700hrs on the 21st Oct – Roles start on the 7th Nov

All packs MUST be returned to me via email

Now, this is a pretty simple process, print, fill out, scan, email back, no problem. This would take me about thirty minutes to do. But two things came up, 1, I was out when this eMail came to me. 2, It went into my junk folder. 3, it would leave me with forty minutes to figure out which friends to use and referees, who is the closest to me, fill out these details, call them, go to them so they can sign, get home scan and eMail. I figure that ain’t gonna happen.

I received another eMail, exactly the same as this, at 17:47: bit late.

So, I had no chance to get this done in time. I sent a message explaining this, a received an eMail back which pretty much said: ‘To bad‘, ‘If you couldn’t follow simple instructions in the time allotted, then your (yes, your) not right for the job.’

I replied with: That is to bad, because it would seem you need a proof reader to help with spelling, grammar, and punctuation. But I guess it’s better we realise this now, because you’re not a company I’d like to work for.

Why is it that security companies, especially ones that are small, but want to appear big, always employ assholes as the Commercial Director and Head of Human Resources.

Thanks Earl, I skipped a bullet there.
